Whispers of Summer: bright blooms to remember Summer

It has been so rainy and wet! The damp has definitely seeped into the rooms; Autumn has arrived and I fear Winter is closing in quick... so here are a few blooms to brighten your day. Whispers of Summer shall we say? Watch this spot for scarves inspired by some of these pictures. I wonder which one you would choose to make into scarves? I have my firm favorites I have to say.

Summer dreams for you tonight I hope.

Busy days busy nights: Summer fun

I've been so busy with Summery fun and working on creating for a market I'm having that I've not had much time for blogging. I thought I'd give you a quick overview of what's been going on:
Walks in the city (Mermaid Quay)
Lots of outdoor walks

Enjoying the fresh morning dew
Enjoying nature

Seeing new things

Delighting in the amazingly simple and fresh

Spending time with my navigator

Revelling in design
And then I've been working hard on my weaving and creating:

Beads and weaving bits
New scarves woven

Making messes
Finishing off  projects I've been longing to do for ages

Weaving fresh designs for summer

Enjoying colors and shape

Finally getting to the pile of sewing which has been hanging over me head

Concentrating on detail
Creating new designs
Having a few mishaps

Loving the time I've taken to make and create simple things.

If you'd like to see more of my creations check out LoomyBin
I've got an online market going on until Sunday.

June 7th: Bright

One of the best things about weaving is being able to work with color. I love bright beautiful colors.
In this picture are some of the cones I recently pulled out for planning stages of projects.
The Aqua and Cream cone closest is a one of a kind mix of wool and super soft soya proteins. It is one of the last few cones of a lot I bought which were a special trial. I will be sad to see it all go because it's wonderful to work with it.
The cone behind that is a Royal Blue and Black cotton and linen mix. I am a sucker for linen and cotton mixes because the designs they can create are so pristine.
The cone behind that is a super fine bright green lambswool. The cone laying down in a lovely deep yellow orange fine cotton.
Colors and the fibres associated are key for me and what I do. They shape the pieces I make in subtle and not so subtle ways (i.e. the certain patterns do not look good with certain fibres, likewise certain color combinations are best kept simple in design while others love to be intricately mixed).

Some of the patterns and colors I've woven over the year.

If you'd like to see more of what I'm working on pop over to LoomyBin. I always love to meet new people and find out what they think. I also have an Etsy shop.
