Glorious Day (A peek at the weaving on my loom)

June 7th: Bright

One of the best things about weaving is being able to work with color. I love bright beautiful colors.
In this picture are some of the cones I recently pulled out for planning stages of projects.
The Aqua and Cream cone closest is a one of a kind mix of wool and super soft soya proteins. It is one of the last few cones of a lot I bought which were a special trial. I will be sad to see it all go because it's wonderful to work with it.
The cone behind that is a Royal Blue and Black cotton and linen mix. I am a sucker for linen and cotton mixes because the designs they can create are so pristine.
The cone behind that is a super fine bright green lambswool. The cone laying down in a lovely deep yellow orange fine cotton.
Colors and the fibres associated are key for me and what I do. They shape the pieces I make in subtle and not so subtle ways (i.e. the certain patterns do not look good with certain fibres, likewise certain color combinations are best kept simple in design while others love to be intricately mixed).

Some of the patterns and colors I've woven over the year.

If you'd like to see more of what I'm working on pop over to LoomyBin. I always love to meet new people and find out what they think. I also have an Etsy shop.

June 1st B is for.... (Beads, Blue and Beginnings)

I just started working on another bright piece with beads.
I love beads...little shimmery bits catching and reflecting light which you can hold in your hand...

I'm going to call this scarf Glorious Day; bright sun in the turquoise blue sky.

May 15th 7 O'clock (weaving while they watch)

This is the project on the loom today.
I always love when the light comes in from the windows and through the reed onto the strings... So while the kids watch their morning TV... I took some pictures.

For more weaving pictures or to see the scarves I've woven up come over to LoomyBin.

May14th Need (more Blue)

There's lots of things I need... sleep, time, money for me and to give away, a cure for SMA and child illnesses, string... but in the long run what I always need is more Blue.
This is code for me needing more love, light, inspiration, patience and beauty in my life. I often feel at a loss when my life gets caught up in the 'everyday.' I begin longing for things I cannot have or will take too long to accomplish. I know we all feel like this sometimes. It's a matter of finding a little something which gets us through the day and keeps us holding on until the time is right to do more. It's blue things for me...

So here, for you, I have a little more blue with the hope that you can find those things that you really need too. x
Blue of the sky accented by the red leaves

More blue weedy flowers

May 10th Stars

One of the decorations I have near my workspace is a blue mosaic decorative plate with lovely little mirrored glass circles. When the sunlight shines through the room to my little corner it cascades around the room making bluey 'stars' behind the plate and twinkling stars in white, pink, purple and blue on the ceiling and walls...
Today, just as I was thinking what can I take a picture of for stars?? the sun broke through the clouds and a Muse whispered in my ear...

To see other photos from earlier this month and also pictures of my weaving, come over and see me at LoomyBin
